110日目 インド・バラナシ / Day 110, India, Varanasi

引率の山田です。
バラナシでは朝日を見ることができませんでしたが、ガンジス川でバタフライをする青年を見ました。

This is YAMADA.
I was not able to see a sunrise, but I was able to see a young man who swim butterfly in the ganges.

バラナシにいる間は、ガンジス川に沿って右往左往しています。
ガンジス川沿いにはガート繋がっていて、段差の高い階段が多く良い運動になります。
ボートに誘ってくるインド人さえ上手くかわせば、ほどよい運動を兼ねた散歩ができます。

In Varanasi, I took a walk along the ganges.
There are stairs there, so I was abele to exercise well.

この日もガート沿いを散歩して休憩がてらホテルの前の階段に腰掛けていると、
何やら聞き覚えのある声で呼ばれました。

The day, I started the my day with exercise.
And then, when I was resting on stairs front hotel, I heard to call anyone my name.

この日、ムンバイから移動してきた岸本さんと菅原さんです。
大荷物を抱えて、バラナシの小道を進み、ガンジス川付近の階段で悪戦苦闘しながら階段を下りていました。
近所のおじさんに手伝ってもらいながら、無事に合流。

It is the voice of KISHIMOTO & SUGAWARA.
They arrived at Varanasi from Mumbai just now.
They were conveying big baggages, were stepping down stairs and were making their way along
a path.
They arrived at hotel and joined together.

お昼ご飯を食べて休憩した後、ガンジス川沿いやバザールを散策しながら、火葬場へと向かいました。

マニカルニカ・ガート。
ここで死者たちが火葬されており、その煙は24時間絶えることがありません。
神聖な場所であるため撮影は禁止されています。
ここに向かう最中にも何人もの人に「撮影はするなよ」と忠告を受けます。

After lunch, we took a walk along the ganges and were shopping at bazaar,
and then we went to crematory.
Manikarnika Gaht.
In there, someone practices cremations. The smokes keep on reeking for ever at all hours.
It is prohibition that someone take a picture, because it is sanctity.

目の前で人が焼かれる姿を見て、どんな感情を持っていいのか分かりませんでした。
火葬をしているという事実は日本でも変わりませんが、その状況が違うだけでこんなにも違うもの
になってしまうものなんだと、ただ呆然とするしかありませんでした。

When I saw that bodies were cremated, I don’t know to have what emotion.
In Japan, it is same difference that cremation is solemnize, but it becomes difference plain to have
a little difference environ. When I thank so, I was struck dumb with astonishment.

そして、夜にはプージャというヒンドゥー教における神像礼拝の儀礼を見に行きました。

This night, we went to see puja.

プージャは、とても魅力的なものでした。
私が最も驚いたのは、プージャは毎晩6時30分から行われていて、
尚かつ毎日こんなにも人が集まっているのだということでした。
日本でもお葬式のような儀式に自由に参加できるとして、私はそこに自ら足を運ぶだろうか。
宗教に属していないという事実はあるかもしれません。
ここに来ている人たちが、どうのような心境でいるのか、どのくらいの頻度で来ているのか。
それもわかりません。
宗教や文化の違いは比べることができず、答えがあるものではないかもしれません。
今の私が言えることは、日本という国を改めて考えるキッカケになったということです。

I thank that it is appealing.
I was most surprised it, it is solemnized since 6:30 pm every nights and it is full of many people
every times.

私が今までに回った都市と、また全く違う顔を持つバラナシ。
ここは、初めてインドに降り立ってバスから眺めながら感じた「異世界に来たような気分」を再起させる
場所でした。

When I saw the town of India with my own eyes at first. I thank that it is difference planet.
In Varanasi, I had the feeling again.

初めてのインドの旅。
常識がなんなのかを見失ったような気がします。
ただそれは決して悪いことではなく、すごく前向きなものです。

The first travel in India.
I felt that I lost common senses.
It is not bad for me. it is preferability.

明日は、デリーに学生たちが集合します。
彼らがどのような成長を遂げているかとても楽しみです。

Students will gather in Delhi.
I’m looking forward to see grown students.
